We kicked off the year in style in March with a much-enjoyed Dance Night. The evening provided an opportunity to socialise and enjoy live music in a relaxed, informal setting. March also saw the Training Band taking centre stage at the Spring Show. This event was a brilliant opportunity for our newer players to showcase their hard work and perform in front of a supportive audience.

May was a particularly busy month: Levens Hall, with its historic house and landscaped gardens, provided a picturesque backdrop for an afternoon of music, while performances at Grayrigg and Thornton-in-Lonsdale allowed the band to connect with audiences slightly further afield.

June’s diary reflected the unpredictability of the British weather. A highlight of the month was the band’s visit to Hesket Newmarket, a new venue that we very much hope to return to. It was a hugely successful addition to the calendar, with players and local residents alike making the most of the sunshine. In contrast, the much-anticipated Finkle Street Party fell victim to the rain, and the band was unable to play - the one gig this year where the weather truly beat us! We look forward to being part of this again next year.

August brought us to Sheepfest, where the band provided a lively soundtrack to one of the town’s most distinctive events. From jaunty marches to well-known favourites, it was a fun day of music, community, and (of course) sheep!

In September, we travelled to Ingleton, continuing a tradition of performing in and for neighbouring communities. Another friendly audience and another enjoyable outing for the band.

One of the most meaningful events of the year was the band’s Remembrance Concert. Through generous donations from those who attended, the concert raised £800 for the Royal British Legion. The programme featured reflective and commemorative music, together with readings, and offered an opportunity for the community to come together in remembrance of those who have served and sacrificed.

December was one of the busiest months in the band’s calendar, with a series of festive engagements. We very much enjoyed being part of Sedbergh's Late Night Shopping event, and this was followed by our Christmas concert. Sadly the weather meant that we were unable to travel to Lakeland this year, but we had a lovely afternoon playing in the Great Hall at Levens. We ended the year with some carolling around town, and are now looking forward to seeing what 2026 holds.
